Please be available for the departure meeting at 14h00. You will then have two days free time to explore this beautiful area and see the splendour of Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls, the planet’s biggest sheet of falling water, is 1.7 kilometres wide and 100 metres high, and the mist that it creates can be seen more than 50 kilometres away. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders), Victoria Falls will quite literally take your breath away – and soaks your clothes at the same time.

We venture into the captivating Caprivi Strip, a narrow stretch of Namibian territory bordering Angola, Zambia, and Botswana. This unique region boasts abundant waterways, attracting a diverse array of wildlife. Over the next two days, we’ll explore this enchanting landscape, including a relaxing boat cruise on the serene Kavango River.

We will spend the morning enjoying the lovely birdlife before hitting the road that takes us past the Kavango River where you will see villages of quaint grass huts and local wooden crafts and carvings. Tonight, our camp is situated along the river in Rundu. We can kick back here and enjoy a phenomenal sunset.

We make our way to the wildlife-dense Etosha National Park deep in the heart of Namibia. Wildlife is attracted here due to the large source of water from the pan. It is in fact known as ‘the great white place of dry water’. Look out for elephant, antelope, lions amongst a variety of other species. before making our way to camp at Namutoni, Halali or Okaukuejo. Much time will be spent on morning and afternoon game drives.

Our next destination is south to the Brandberg Mountain. The Brandberg mountain is a soaring mass of granite that reaches 2573 metres. We camp next to the dry Ugab River which is home to the rare desert elephants. These desert elephants have adapted to the dry semi-desert conditions because they have a smaller body mass and longer legs allowing them the physical attributes it takes to walk longer distances to reach water. We will take a walk with a local guide around the petrified forest to see the famous White Lady rock painting.

Today our journey takes us through beautiful desert landscapes as we make our way to the granite domes of the desert at Spitzkoppe. Camp this evening is at the foot of these magnificent rock formations and we explore the area on foot. We enjoy a magical sunset in the silent and wide-open spaces of the Spitzkoppe.

We will travel along the flat open plains to the west coast to spend time observing the Cape Cross Seal Colony bathing in the ocean and basking in the sun. Once we have spent some time enjoying the coast we will continue on to another coastal town of Swakopmund. Here you can explore the town or go sea kayaking or dune boarding at your own expense. There is still a very strong German influence that comes from the German colonialists who settled here in 1892. This influence can be seen in the food you eat and the surrounding architecture.

We will be leaving the town of Swakopmund and the lunar landscapes behind as we travel into the Namib desert. Red sand dunes define this area as well as unusual crescent-shaped dunes and the most widespread linear dunes. Our next exploration will be that of Sossusvlei where we will explore Sesriem Canyon and its unusual rock formations. In and around the canyon you will find springbok, gemsbok, cape fox and hyena amongst the camel thorn trees. You can watch the sun set over the world’s highest sand dunes for a wonderful end to your day.

Our destination for the day is the capital and largest city of Namibia, Windhoek. The town is an eclectic mix of African and European culture together with a mixture of the German modern and colonial era. You will have the day free to explore the city and perhaps become familiar with the rich history. Visit the museums, craft markets and shops and then, in the evening, you can enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants (own expense).

We will cross into Botswana and spend the night in the heart of the Kalahari amongst the dunes that are covered with a relative abundance of vegetation, including grass tussocks, shrubs, and deciduous trees that have evolved to make use of the area’s infrequent precipitation and wild swings in temperature. In summer, the heat can top 45 degrees Celsius (115 degrees Fahrenheit); on winter nights, lows can drop to -15 degrees Celsius (seven degrees Fahrenheit). You will go on a guided walk with the local bushmen to learn about their ancient bush skills and how they survive in the desert.

We overnight in Maun and prepare for our 2 day adventure in the Okavango Delta. We will spend time in the beauty of the Okavango Delta where fresh water floods in and spreads into the channels that make up the Delta. We will go on mokoro trips where you will be guided along the waterways in traditional dug-out canoes. We camp on remote islands for two nights enjoying bush walks, swimming and the spectacular birdlife in this wilderness area.
